Term 1Substance abuse  
In this unit students will learn how drugs and alcohol affect not only the person taking them but others around them. Students will look in to how drugs are linked to crime and how the media influences their ideas about different substances.

Term 2Mental Health - Grief/Loss 
In this unit students will consider how we can deal with grief and loss through our lives. They will look at the stages of grief and will understand how best to support those who are suffering loss.

Term 3Careers  
In this unit students will be consider who influences their choices, what skills and qualities they have, how they might develop these, how to understand a job advert and what university might be like.

Term 4Modern Society   
In this unit students will develop their understanding of the complex problems currently facing the UK. Students will learn about the effects of ethnic diversity in modern Britain. They will also study the issues surrounding street crime, including guns and knife crime, riots and gangs.

Term 5Prejudice and Discrimination   
In this unit students will learn to look at themselves and their place in society before looking at the many types of prejudice and discrimination they will encounter in society. Students will go on to look at racism, sexism, ageism and religious prejudice.

Term 6RSE: Sexual Consent 
In this unit students will consider the important issue of sexual consent. They will look at the law surrounding sexual consent and will consider how an individual’s wishes should be respected.
