KS4 Curriculum Guide - Year 11 Business Studies
Term 1Making Marketing Decisions   
Students will study the four P's (Product, Price, Promotion and Place) of the marketing mix. They will then study how a growing business makes decisions about the marketing mix.
Assessment: Students will sit an end of unit assessment using exam style questions that consists of multiple choice questions and a 6 mark question in relation to the unit content. Pupils will also complete a practical project where they have the opportunity to put the unit content into practice.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 2Making Operational Decisions   
This unit will focus on the logistics of managing a growing business. This ranges from technology to the management of stock and how a business ensures the quality of its products.
Assessment: Students will sit an end of unit assessment using exam style questions that consists of multiple choice questions and a 6 mark question in relation to the unit content. Pupils will also complete a practical project where they have the opportunity to put the unit content into practice.Key Words and Terms
 
Term 3Making Financial Decisions    
Students will learn about the financial calculations a business undertakes to analyse their profit and loss. They will go onto to learn how a business will use financial information to gauge performance and strategies from this. There will also be a focus on covering topics highlighted from the November Mock exam and QLA.

Term 4Making Human Resource Decisions   
Students will learn about how staff are managed and the organisation of a growing business. They will also study how a growing business recruits, trains and retains staff as well as motivation theory. In the case of unites being completed in less than a term, revision for March Mock will be done during term 4.

Term 5Revision   
Students create revision resources, complete revision activities and complete practice questions in order to revise and prepare for the upcoming final exams. The aim is that pupils create resources that can be used to help them prepare for the final assessments. They will also focus on exam technique through discussion of question and answer styles, as well as focused exam questions.
