FAQs School Re-Opening

Testing

How will students be tested at King’s?

Students will have a nasal swab, which they self-administer, as part of a Lateral Flow Test.

When will my child’s test be?

Tests will be by year group, and parents will be sent an appointment time on Monday 1st March. For their second and third tests, appointments will take place during the school day. Please see Mrs Price’s letter to parents with more information on testing days.

Can I change my child’s appointment/can they come with their sibling?

No- Because of the very tight schedule for testing, we cannot change appointments. Because students are being tested in year groups, we cannot group siblings together.

Does my child have to have a test to come back to school?

No- Although the Government strongly recommends students are tested, students will not be forced to take part in testing. Parental consent will be sought before testing begins. Children who do not have a test can return to school with their year group as per the schedule in Mrs Price’s letter

Attendance

Can my child continue with online learning instead of returning to face-to-face education from 8th March?

No- The Government has stated that attendance for students will be mandatory once schools reopen so students will not be able to continue working from home and live online lessons will no longer be provided, except for students who are needing to self-isolate in line with government guidance.

Safety

Does my child have to wear a mask?

Yes- As before, masks are required in all communal areas and, in line with strong government guidance, are now also required in classrooms. Students do not need to wear masks outside on the school site. If your child is exempt from mask wearing for any reason, please let us know via email to admin@kingsschoolhove.org.uk and we can provide them with a mask exemption pass upon their return to school.
